Self-Care Essentials

May Avatar

In our busy lives, it can be easy to forget about self-care. We juggle work, personal responsibilities, and countless other demands, often leaving little time for ourselves. But the truth is, taking care of our mental and emotional well-being isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.

Over the years, I’ve explored many ways to nurture my mindfulness practice and find moments of peace in everyday life. One of the most meaningful additions to my self-care routine has been discovering tools that help me stay grounded and present

1. Spa Day

Taking a day to unwind with a home spa experience is one of my favorite ways to recharge. From calming bath soaks to soothing skincare, creating a peaceful environment allows me to disconnect and focus on my mental well-being.

—But planning a spa day can sometimes feel overwhelming when you’re unsure of what products to use or how to elevate the experience. That’s why I started incorporating items from my Therabox subscription.

As seen on Oprah, Forbes, Today Show, Good Morning America

  • Cruelty free natural products
  • Surprise every month
  • Different boxes to choose from or mystery box

Therabox curates self-care products specifically designed to support mental wellness and relaxation. For my latest spa day, I used the lavender-infused bath salts that came in my box, along with a calming face mask and aromatherapy mist. Each product helped me slow down and fully immerse myself in the moment, transforming my at-home spa day into a truly restorative experience.

2. Yoga

Yoga is a great way to stay active and fit, while relaxing & getting a great stretch. You can use a guided yoga app/video or simply look up some great yoga poses! Just 15 minutes a day can  reduce stress and anxiety, boost energy levels, & improve focus & mental clarity.

This set comes with a yoga mat & carrying strap, 2 yoga blocks, mat & hand towel, yoga strap, & yoga knee pad but any yoga mat will work.

Incorporating yoga into your self care routine will create a well rounded mental wellness routine.

3. Power of Journaling

Any journal of your choice will work, however a guided journal can be incredibly helpful for beginners who want to take full advantage of all the benefits of journaling, & it can help you stay on track.

This journal includes a section for:

  • Morning gratitude (start everyday on a positive note)
  • Top priorities (to focus on what really matters)
  • Daily affirmations (boosts confidence)
  • Evening prompt (reflect and learn each day)
  • Challenges (weekly doses of motivation)

Doing these consistently is a game changing mindfulness technique to a happier, more fulfilling life. Give it a try!

4. Meditation

Similarly to yoga, you can find plenty of great guided meditation apps or videos. I personally recommend Boho Beautiful Yoga on youtube (guided meditation)

Just 5-10 minutes of meditation daily can reduce stress, & improve focus.

A few examples that have worked well for myself in the past:

  • Body scan meditation is the process of relaxing and acknowledging your body slowly from your feet up to your jaw and head in a comfortable position.
  • Mindfulness meditation is the practice of being present with your thoughts. If your mind wanders don’t try to push it away, simply notice your thoughts & let them pass.

Tools from Therabox such as aromatherapy and calming teas can significantly enhance your experience.

5. Gratitude Practice

Gratitude is so important and a powerful way to shift your perspective and boost mental well-being. Simply writing down a few things you’re grateful for throughout each day will help you foster a positive mindset.

You can write these down in your journal, or make it your very own daily practice to integrate into your self care routine.

Incorporating yoga, journaling, meditation, a mindfulness practice, and tools like Therabox into your daily routine can truly transform your mental and emotional well-being. These practices work together to help you stay grounded, reduce stress, and foster a deeper connection with yourself.
